August 26, 2025 – The flood situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remains critical, with Buner district suffering the heaviest destruction following intense cloudbursts and monsoon rains earlier this month.

Buner: Epicenter of the Crisis
- Over 300 deaths have been confirmed in Buner alone.
- Entire villages were swept away, with 162 houses destroyed and more than 575 partially damaged.
- Locals reported receiving little warning before the sudden floods struck.
KP-Wide Impact
- The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed the province-wide death toll has now crossed 400.
- Casualties are also reported in Swabi, Swat, Shangla, and Mansehra.
Relief and Rehabilitation
- Compensation announced: Rs2 million for families of the deceased and Rs500,000 for the injured, to be released within six days.
- Army support: Pakistan Army medical camps are treating thousands, offering free medicines and health services.
- Reconstruction: Roads and water supply systems are being restored under emergency directives.
