  • Pakistan’s Proposal: At the 21st Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar unveiled a seven-point outline for peace in Gaza, urging Muslim countries to take “concrete measures” beyond symbolic statements.

Pakistan’s 7-Point Path for Gaza

  1. Immediate Ceasefire: Permanent, unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in line with UNSC Resolution 2735.
  2. Humanitarian Access: Guaranteed access for civilians, medical staff, aid workers, and UN personnel.
  3. Support for UNRWA: Renewed international backing for the UN agency vital to Palestinian survival.
  4. End Forced Displacement: Stop illegal settlements, land annexations, and Israel’s declared intent to occupy Gaza City.
  5. Reconstruction: Launch of an OIC-led reconstruction program for Gaza.
  6. Political Process: Revival of a genuine, time-bound path to a two-state solution.
  7. Accountability: Prosecution of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Wider OIC Outcomes

  • Rejection of “Greater Israel”: Member states condemned Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plan for full military control of Gaza, calling it a violation of international law.
  • Two-State Solution: The OIC reaffirmed support for a sovereign Palestinian state with East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital.
  • Accountability & Sanctions: Israel was held “fully responsible” for genocide and humanitarian catastrophe. The OIC called for sanctions, suspension of arms sales, and review of diplomatic ties.
  • Press Freedom: Strong condemnation of Israel’s targeting of journalists in Gaza, termed a war crime.
  • UN Responsibility: Urged the UN Security Council to act decisively to halt Israeli aggression.

Pakistan’s Stance

  • Ishaq Dar stressed that “Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people”, highlighting that statements of sympathy are no longer enough and that practical steps must be taken to stop the bloodshed.
