Cloudburst in Swabi Leaves 15 Dead, Dozens Injured

SWABI, August 18, 2025 – A powerful cloudburst struck the Darwodi area of Swabi district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), leaving at least 15 people dead and many others injured.

• Casualties & Damage: The sudden downpour submerged dozens of houses, forcing families to seek shelter on rooftops.
• Rescue Efforts: Teams from Haripur and Mardan joined local authorities, rescuing more than 70 stranded people from floodwaters.
• Wider Impact: Floodwaters entered homes in Razaar, Lahore, and Topi tehsils. In Tordher, a school wall collapsed and a van was submerged.
• Official Response: Swabi’s Deputy Commissioner confirmed widespread damage. Rescue operations continue.
• NDMA Warning: The National Disaster Management Authority has warned of possible further cloudbursts in Hazara, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan, urging people to avoid riversides.

This disaster comes amid an intense monsoon spell that has already wreaked havoc across K-P and northern Pakistan.
