ISLAMABAD, August 27, 2025 — The United Nations has announced $600,000 in emergency aid to assist Pakistan in tackling the ongoing monsoon flood crisis.

According to UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, the funds are drawn from the regional pooled fund and will target urgent humanitarian needs. These include:

- Shelter for displaced families
- Medical assistance
- Cash-for-work programs
- Hygiene kits
- Access to clean drinking water
- The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has identified these areas as critical gaps in the current response.
- The spokesperson stressed that local authorities are leading relief efforts, while the UN and its partners are extending support.
- The announcement comes as Pakistan’s Meteorological Department warns of another monsoon system, which may trigger more heavy rainfall in the coming days.
- Pakistan has been managing repeated cycles of flood disasters, with international partners now stepping up to provide timely assistance.
