Chinese FM Wang Yi in Islamabad for Sixth Round of Strategic Dialogue

Islamabad, August 21, 2025 — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Islamabad for the sixth round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

• Strengthening Partnership:
  Prime Minister Sharif and FM Wang Yi reaffirmed the importance of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China.
• CPEC Progress:
  Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress of CPEC Phase-II, highlighting its role in Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and regional connectivity.

• Economic & Trade Cooperation:
  Talks covered deeper cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, industry, and mining.
• Security & Counter-Terrorism:
  Regional security was discussed, with Pakistan reiterating its commitment to the safety of Chinese nationals working in the country.
• Future Engagements:
  The visit finalized the agenda for PM Sharif’s upcoming visit to China later this month, where he will attend the SCO Summit and meet President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The visit will also formally launch CPEC Phase-II.

The visit underscores the enduring strength of Pakistan-China ties, with both countries committed to expanding cooperation across multiple fronts — from economic development to regional security.
