Mobile Internet Restored in Parts of Balochistan After Court Order

Quetta, August 21, 2025 — Mobile internet services have been restored in Quetta, Pishin, Chaman, Taftan, and several other districts of Balochistan following a directive from the Balochistan High Court.

• Two-Week Suspension Ends:
  Mobile data services had been suspended since August 6 on “security grounds.”
• Court Intervention:
  On August 21, the High Court ordered the immediate resumption of services after hearing a petition filed by the Balochistan Consumer Civil Society.
• Fundamental Rights Concern:
  The petition argued that the shutdown violated citizens’ rights and badly affected businessmen, students, and daily communication.

• Conditional Warning:
  The court adjourned the hearing to August 25, warning that if internet is not fully restored across the province, contempt proceedings could be initiated against the PTA secretary.
• Relief for Citizens:
  The restoration brought relief to thousands who had been cut off from work, studies, and essential communication.
