Mohmand Helicopter Crash: 5 Martyred During Flood Relief Mission

Date & Location: On August 15, 2025, a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government Mi-17 helicopter crashed in the Mohmand district while carrying flood relief supplies to Bajaur.

Cause of Crash: Preliminary reports point to bad weather as the reason for the tragic accident.

The Martyrs

The crash claimed the lives of five brave crew members, including:

  • Two pilots
  • Three crew members

They were hailed as national heroes for sacrificing their lives while serving humanity in a flood-hit region.

State Honors & Mourning

  • Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared August 16 as a day of mourning across K-P.
  • National flag was flown at half-mast throughout the province.
  • The martyrs were laid to rest with full state and military honors.
  • President Asif Ali Zardari and Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed deep condolences, paying tribute to their sacrifice.

The tragedy stands as a reminder of the selfless service of Pakistan’s soldiers and aviators, who put their lives at risk to protect and serve the nation in times of crisis.
