TTP Ringmasker Sanaullah Agha Neutralized in Pishin

Jan 29, 2026 | Terrorism

QUETTA — In a high-stakes intelligence-based operation (IBO) that spanned nearly ten hours, the Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) neutralized six “proclaimed offenders” affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—referred to by the state as Fitna al Khawarij.

The operation, centered in the Kalli Karbala area of Pishin district on Monday, January 26, 2026, targeted a notorious gang involved in a string of high-profile crimes across the province.

The Target: The Sanaullah Agha Gang

The CTD identified the primary target as Sanaullah Agha, a key TTP-linked militant commander wanted in over 15 criminal and terrorism cases.

  • Casualties: Sanaullah Agha, his two brothers, and three close associates were killed in the firefight.
  • Criminal Profile: The group was wanted for murder, kidnapping for ransom, the abduction of women, and direct attacks on security forces.
  • CTD Injuries: Ten CTD personnel sustained minor injuries during the intense gun battle; all are reported to be in stable condition.

15 Minutes for Peace, Hours of War

DIG Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya revealed dramatic details of the engagement during a press conference on Tuesday.

  • The Negotiation: Before the shooting began, six local elders acted as intermediaries, claiming the suspects wished to surrender.
  • The Betrayal: The CTD granted a 15-minute window for talks. However, drone and surveillance footage showed two individuals sent for negotiations instead climbing onto the roof to distribute weapons to the militants.
  • The Firefight: Once the offenders opened fire from the rooftop of a relative’s house, a full-scale encounter ensued, lasting from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Weapons Recovery & Mining Explosives Leak

A massive cache of “modern weaponry” was recovered from the hideout, raising fresh concerns about militant logistics:

  • The Cache: Rocket launchers, RPGs, hand grenades, submachine guns (SMGs), and a significant amount of explosive material.
  • The Investigation: DIG Goraya noted that explosives issued to mining companies under official permits are reportedly being diverted to terrorists. A formal FIR has been registered in Khuzdar to investigate this supply chain leak.

Zero-Tolerance Policy

Shahid Rind, Special Assistant to the CM for Political Affairs, reiterated the Balochistan government’s “Zero-Tolerance” stance.

“Armed resistance will be met firmly. While the state remains open to those who surrender according to the law, there will be no mercy for those who point guns at the citizens of Pakistan.”

Next Steps and Monitoring

  • Forensic Analysis: Recovered weapons are being cross-matched with ballistic evidence from the recent Nokundi suicide attack.
  • Search Operation: Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a “combing operation” in the surrounding hills of Pishin to apprehend three accomplices who escaped during the chaos.
