Quetta, Nov. 10 — Balochistan Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani on Sunday highlighted sports as a key priority of the provincial government, emphasizing its role in promoting healthy activities among the youth.
Speaking at a hockey prize distribution ceremony, the minister stressed the importance of integrating extracurricular activities, particularly sports, into the curriculum of educational institutions across the province. “I want extracurricular activities—especially sports—to be made an essential part of the curriculum in educational institutions,” she said.

In line with the vision of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Durrani said efforts were underway to expand sports facilities and opportunities to even the remote areas of the province. She highlighted plans to introduce a wider range of sports disciplines in schools to identify and nurture young talent.
Expressing pride in hockey as Pakistan’s national sport, the minister recalled her own experience as a hockey player and appreciated the provincial hockey federation and school management for successfully organizing the tournament. She assured that the administration would consider all sports-related demands from institutions and athletes to further promote youth engagement in physical activities.

The event also served as a platform to celebrate emerging talent and encourage students to actively participate in sports, reflecting the government’s broader agenda of youth empowerment and holistic development through education and physical fitness.
