BAHAWALPUR — Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir declared on Thursday, January 29, 2026, that the Pakistan Armed Forces are undergoing a “major transformation” to meet the challenges of modern, tech-led warfare. During his visit to the Bahawalpur Garrison, the Field Marshal witnessed the high-intensity field exercise “Steadfast Resolve” at the Khairpur Tamewali (KPT) firing range.
The “Steadfast Resolve” Exercise
The exercise served as a practical demonstration of the military’s pivot toward Multi-Domain Operations (MDO), integrating land, air, and cyber capabilities.
- Integrated Tech: The drills showcased the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones), advanced electronic warfare (EW) assets, and modern surveillance technologies.
- Tactical Philosophy: Field Marshal Munir noted that “technological manoeuvres will replace physical manoeuvres” in the future, fundamentally changing both offensive and defensive doctrines.
- Operational Readiness: The CDF lauded the troops for their professional competence and high morale, reaffirming that the military remains fully prepared to defend Pakistan’s territorial integrity.

Beyond the battlefield exercises, the Field Marshal’s visit focused heavily on human capital and regional development.
1. ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP)
He inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub, a Special Technology Park (STP) initiative designed to:
- Promote digital literacy and high-tech skills among youth.
- Bridge the educational gap specifically for students in Southern Punjab.
- Provide a platform for learning in emerging fields like AI and data science.
2. APS Abbasia Campus
Continuing the military’s commitment to social welfare, he inaugurated the new Army Public School (APS) Abbasia Campus, emphasizing the importance of “quality education and character building” for the next generation.

The CDF also visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on the “maintenance regime” required to sustain modern military platforms.
- Self-Reliance: He emphasized indigenisation (local production) and adaptation as fundamental pillars of the current transformation.
- Modern Platforms: The briefing covered how advanced technologies are being used to keep current combat support measures at optimum readiness.
