Charsadda, October 25, 2025: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi on Friday reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) reform agenda and restoring public confidence in governance through transparency and accountability.

Addressing a large public gathering at Rajar Ground in Charsadda — his first major appearance since assuming office on October 15 — the newly elected chief minister said he remained devoted to the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan. “Our mission is to bring genuine change by ending corruption, inefficiency, and exploitation,” he told the cheering crowd.

Mr Afridi said that his nomination had drawn criticism from some political circles who considered him “unacceptable,” but the people’s support had invalidated such claims. “Your resounding yes has spoken louder than any propaganda,” he remarked.

He added that the residents of Charsadda had demonstrated through their votes that true power lies with the people. “They have eliminated entire political parties through the ballot box,” he said, calling it a victory for democratic will.

Responding to critics who questioned his age and administrative experience, the chief minister asserted that all his decisions were guided by Imran Khan’s principles and would ultimately prove their merit.

Touching upon the recent security situation in the province, Mr Afridi reiterated PTI’s opposition to military operations and drone strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “These policies have only caused collateral damage without ending terrorism. We will not accept decisions made behind closed doors about our province’s future,” he said.

The chief minister also disclosed that despite following legal procedures, he had been denied permission to meet detained PTI founder Imran Khan. “I will now present my case directly before the people,” he said.

Mr Afridi concluded his speech by saying he was undeterred by threats to his life, declaring, “My life and my death are a trust of my people.”

Several PTI leaders, including provincial president Junaid Akbar Khan, Speaker Babar Saleem Khan Swati, and MNAs and MPAs from across the province, attended the rally.
