ISLAMABAD – August 15, 2025:
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met U.S. Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory LoGerfo in Islamabad on Friday. Senior officials from both countries attended the meeting. It came soon after the U.S.-Pakistan Counterterrorism Dialogue held earlier this week.

Enhanced Security Collaboration

Both sides agreed to boost cooperation in counterterrorism, border security, and anti-narcotics efforts. They stressed the need for faster and more effective intelligence sharing to counter emerging threats.

Joint Action Plan

Minister Naqvi said the talks would help draft a joint action plan to fight terrorism in all its forms. “Our shared security interests demand close coordination,” he noted.

Improved Relations

The interior minister pointed to better relations between Pakistan and the U.S. since the start of President Donald Trump’s administration. He praised Trump’s role in promoting global peace. Naqvi added that transparency, mutual trust, and cooperation were now the hallmarks of bilateral ties.

Designation of Terrorist Groups

Naqvi also welcomed the recent U.S. decision to designate several groups as terrorist organizations. He said this move supported Pakistan’s fight against militancy and would help disrupt extremist networks in the region.
