Kashmiris Observe India’s Independence Day as ‘Black Day’

SRINAGAR – August 15, 2025:
Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), along with the diaspora worldwide, marked India’s Independence Day as “Black Day.” The annual protest condemns what they call India’s illegal and forcible occupation of their homeland.

Call for Protest

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and other pro-freedom leaders urged Kashmiris to register their opposition to Indian control, especially after the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019. The appeal received widespread support across the territory.

Protest Demonstrations

Anti-India rallies were staged in several towns and villages. Protesters wore black armbands, hoisted black flags, and carried placards with pro-freedom messages. The demonstrations aimed to draw global attention to the ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK.

Posters and Banners

Reports indicated that posters appeared in many localities, declaring that India had forcibly occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the will of its people.

Security Lockdown

Authorities enforced a heavy security presence across IIOJK, restricting movement and monitoring gatherings. Despite these measures, protests were held in defiance of the clampdown.
