Islamabad, Pakistan — Women members of the National Assembly contributed nearly half of the lower house’s regular plenary agenda during the second parliamentary year of 2025-2026, despite holding less than 22 percent of the seats. According to the latest Women Parliamentarians Performance Report released by the Free and Fair Election Network on March 11, 2026, female MNAs submitted 48 percent of all agenda items. On average, each woman lawmaker raised three times more issues than her male counterparts, submitting 16 items compared with five per male MNA.
Their contributions covered a wide range of national policy areas, including economic affairs, taxation, security, local governance, and parliamentary reforms, challenging the notion that women focus only on gender-specific matters. This strong performance highlights the growing influence of women in Pakistan’s democratic process and their commitment to addressing the nation’s key challenges.
