CM Maryam Directs Immediate Cybercrime Cell, Anti-Drone Unit in Punjab

Lahore — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on February 24, 2026, directed the immediate establishment of a dedicated cybercrime cell and the province’s first anti-drone unit during her visit to the newly set up Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (PIFTAC) in Lahore.

The chief minister received a detailed briefing on PIFTAC’s role in intelligence coordination and the overall law and order situation. She approved the creation of the anti-drone unit to counter emerging aerial threats and ordered the swift setup of a specialised cybercrime cell to tackle digital offences.

Maryam Nawaz instructed continuous combing operations across Punjab to safeguard lives and property. She directed authorities to install modern digital scanners at all provincial entry and exit points without delay.

A special dashboard has been introduced for deputy commissioners in every district to enable real-time monitoring and quick response to security threats. The chief minister also ordered strengthening of the whistleblower system to help curb terrorism and organised crime.

She announced that an AI hub would be established within PIFTAC to boost cybersecurity and improve operational capabilities. Emphasising proactive measures, she stressed that authorities must focus on pre-emptive action rather than reacting after incidents occur.

The chief minister reiterated the government’s commitment to making Punjab the safest province in Pakistan, saying all available resources would be utilised to protect citizens and ensure peace.

The visit and directives mark a significant push toward modernising security infrastructure in Punjab, with rapid implementation now underway.
