In a notice issued Tuesday, Pemra said it had received multiple complaints about the program. “Lazawaal Ishq is a content broadcast on social media platforms. This program is not being broadcast on any TV channel licensed by Pemra,” the statement read. It added that Pemra’s jurisdiction applies only to licensed TV channels, not digital platforms.
Key Points
- Pemra confirms Lazawaal Ishq is a YouTube-only show, not licensed for TV.
- The show is hosted by actor Ayesha Omar.
- Format inspired by the Turkish reality hit Aşk Adası.
- Over 100 episodes featuring Pakistani participants living together in a villa.
The clarification follows online speculation over whether the show would eventually make its way to Pakistani television. Omar had earlier confirmed the project was designed for digital audiences, calling it “a first of its kind for Urdu-speaking viewers worldwide.”
Filmed with sweeping visuals and set in a luxurious villa, Lazawaal Ishq brings the popular global format into Urdu for the first time. It follows four men and four women as they form connections, face challenges, and compete for the title of “winning couple.”
