FC’s role in Balochistan peace lauded

QUETTA: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Friday visited the headquarters of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan (North), where they praised the paramilitary force for its role in maintaining security and contributing to peace in the province.

During the visit, a contingent of FC Balochistan (North) presented a salute to the interior minister and the chief minister. Inspector General FC Balochistan (North), Major General Muhammad Atif Mujtaba, received the dignitaries and introduced senior officers of the force.

Mr Naqvi and Mr Bugti also visited the martyrs’ memorial at the headquarters, where they laid a wreath and offered Fateha to pay tribute to FC personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. The visit underscored official recognition of the sacrifices made by the force during counterterrorism and security operations in the province.

The IG FC Balochistan (North) briefed the interior minister and the chief minister on the force’s training regime, operational preparedness and professional capabilities. The briefing covered ongoing security challenges, the FC’s role in counterterrorism operations, and measures taken to enhance coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure stability in sensitive areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the sacrifices rendered by FC Balochistan (North) in the fight against terrorism were “unforgettable”. He described the force’s services in restoring and maintaining peace as a “bright chapter in history”, adding that the federal government fully acknowledged the contributions of FC personnel toward safeguarding lives and infrastructure in the province.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti also commended the force for its role in maintaining law and order, particularly in difficult terrain and challenging security conditions. He said lasting peace in Balochistan was a top priority for the provincial government and stressed that coordination between civilian authorities and security forces remained essential to counter militancy and ensure development.

Both leaders reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the FC through improved resources, training and welfare initiatives for personnel and their families. They emphasised that peace and stability were prerequisites for economic development and the well-being of the people of Balochistan.

The visit comes amid continued security operations in parts of the province, where law enforcement agencies remain engaged in efforts to curb militancy and protect critical infrastructure. Officials said such engagements with security institutions were aimed at boosting morale and strengthening coordination in pursuit of long-term peace.
