Four envoys present credentials to President Zardari

ISLAMABAD — Four newly appointed envoys from different countries presented their credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency on Monday.

The diplomats included Tim Kane, High Commissioner-designate of Australia; Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, High Commissioner-designate of Mauritius; Maja Mortensen, Ambassador-designate of Denmark; and Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, Ambassador-designate of the United Arab Emirates.

A formal ceremony was held at the Presidency, featuring a guard of honour by a contingent of the armed forces. President Zardari congratulated the envoys on their appointments and expressed confidence that their tenures would further strengthen bilateral relations with Pakistan.

During his meeting with the Australian envoy, the president highlighted friendly ties between the two countries, emphasizing cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, and education, noting the presence of a sizeable Pakistani student community in Australia.

In discussions with the Mauritian envoy, President Zardari underscored the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Mauritius, rooted in cultural affinity and shared Commonwealth heritage.

Meeting the Danish ambassador, the president appreciated Denmark’s cooperation at the UN Security Council and discussed opportunities to expand collaboration in trade, agriculture, dairy products, technology, and infrastructure development.

With the UAE ambassador, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the UAE, recalling that Pakistan was the first country to recognise the UAE in 1971. He noted that the historic ties, anchored in shared faith, mutual trust, and common goals for regional peace and prosperity, form the foundation of the fraternal relationship between the two nations.

The credential presentation marks the beginning of the envoys’ diplomatic missions, aimed at further deepening Pakistan’s bilateral and multilateral ties.
