PESHAWAR — Lawyers supported by the Awami National Party (ANP) have emerged as frontrunners in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council elections, winning at least 12 of the 28 seats, according to provisional results released on Sunday.

In Peshawar, the Malgari Wakilan (MW) group, affiliated with the ANP, secured three seats, while the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) of PTI won two, and one independent candidate also triumphed. The seventh seat’s result remained uncertain, with conflicting reports indicating either Rafiq Mohmand (MW) or Khushnood Zakirullah, a female candidate, as the winner.

The official results of the KP Bar Council elections are scheduled to be announced on November 4.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Shah Faisal Uthmankhel, also chairman of the KP Bar Council, served as the returning officer for the polls.
