A powerful and thought-provoking photo exhibition titled “Dialogue on Humanity” was inaugurated at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad on Friday, December 5, 2025, launching a unique collaborative effort aimed at fostering global reflection on core humanitarian principles.
The exhibition is the product of a significant collaboration between the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Photo-Élysée Museum (Lausanne), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It arrives in Pakistan after successfully touring eleven countries, adding a vital Pakistani perspective to an ongoing global conversation.
Themes of Resilience and Principle
The core of the exhibition is an exploration of the fundamental principles of humanitarian action, humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, which are the bedrock of the Geneva Conventions, whose 75th anniversary this show commemorates.
Curated around poignant themes such as “Hope and Dignity,” “Facts and Fiction,” and “Digital and Data,” the striking visuals push viewers to contemplate how these values apply amidst contemporary challenges: global conflicts, rising refugee numbers, and the accelerating impact of digital technology on human rights. The exhibition encourages a shift from viewing humanitarianism as abstract legal doctrine to understanding it as a tangible, living value.

A Platform for Pakistani Voices
Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan, Georg Steiner, emphasized at the opening that the exhibition serves a dual purpose: not just to showcase art, but to encourage critical, independent thinking. Visitors are actively encouraged to engage with the themes by scanning a QR code throughout the gallery, connecting them to an online platform where they can share their reflections and insights with a worldwide audience. This interactive element ensures that Pakistani perspectives and voices contribute meaningfully to the global dialogue.
The exhibition is on display at the National Art Gallery, PNCA, until Tuesday, December 10, 2025, providing a crucial space for diplomats, students, artists, and the general public to engage with powerful visual storytelling before the show moves to its next international destination.
