Advancing the Fateh Series
The Fateh-II represents a major leap in Pakistan’s “Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System” (GMLRS) technology.
By integrating satellite and inertial navigation, the system achieves high accuracy, making it ideal for striking high-value targets such as bridges and air defense units.
Military analysts describe the Fateh-II as a “flat trajectory” missile, a design feature that makes it exceptionally difficult for modern radar and missile defense systems to detect and intercept. Mounted on an 8×8 wheeled chassis, the system offers high operational flexibility and can be rapidly deployed across varied terrain.
Building a Layered Defense
This training launch follows a series of successful tests over the past year, showcasing a rapidly evolving missile inventory.
In September 2025, the army tested Fateh-IV cruise missile with a 750km range. Within the last month, the Pakistan Navy tested the ‘Taimoor’ air-launched cruise missile and a new anti-ship ballistic missile.
The Fateh-II complements the existing Fatah-I (140km) and Abdali (450km) systems, providing the military with a versatile range of strike options.
The successful launch underscores Pakistan’s commitment to self-reliance in defense production, with the Fateh series being entirely indigenously designed and manufactured.
