Islamabad (January 27, 2026) — The District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad have ordered former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to appear in person or via video link at the next hearing in the 9 May incidents and five related cases.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the case today. Imran Khan could not appear via video link, so arguments on the bail applications could not be completed. The court extended the interim bail of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi until February 6, 2026.

Key points:

  • These cases relate to the violent protests on May 9, 2023, involving attacks on military installations and other sites.
  • The court expressed dissatisfaction with Imran Khan’s non-appearance and made his presence mandatory (in person or video) at the next hearing.
  • Bushra Bibi’s interim bail was also extended until the same date.
  • Imran Khan is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail due to convictions in other cases.
  • The next hearing on February 6 will be important for PTI.
