“Long Live Pakistan”: National Unity as Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq Strikes Deep Into Afghanistan

Feb 27, 2026 | Current Affairs, Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD – In an extraordinary display of political solidarity, leaders from all major parties—including the ruling coalition and the opposition—have united behind the Pakistan Armed Forces as Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq targets Afghan Taliban military infrastructure following unprovoked cross-border aggression.

The operation, launched on the night of February 26–27, 2026, has seen the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and ground units inflict heavy losses on the Taliban regime, including the reported destruction of command centers in Kabul and Kandahar.

A United Political Front

Across the ideological divide, the message to Kabul has been singular: Pakistan’s desire for peace must not be mistaken for weakness.

  • President Asif Ali Zardari: Issued a stern warning that “no one will be beyond reach” for the Pakistani military. He emphasized that the response is “comprehensive and decisive,” aimed at those who threaten the state’s territorial integrity.
  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif: Reaffirmed that the nation is in a state of constant readiness. “There will be no compromise on the defense of the beloved homeland,” he stated, adding that the armed forces are fully capable of dealing with any internal or external challenge.
  • Defence Minister Khawaja Asif: Characterized the Taliban as “proxies of India” and called on the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the federation in this time of war.

  • Barrister Gohar Khan (PTI Chairman): Despite political friction at home, the PTI chairman backed the military action, stating, “Response to Afghanistan’s aggression will be given with full force. Our prayers and support are with our security forces.”

Provincial Leadership Stands Firm

Chief Ministers from all four provinces echoed the call for national defense:

  • Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz and Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon both issued rallying cries of “Long Live Pakistan,” with Memon invoking Quranic verses to underscore the righteousness of the defense.
  • Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti: Specifically noted that the “safe havens of terrorists in Afghanistan will not be spared,” praising the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The Battlefield at 6:00 AM

The political unity comes as security sources report significant breakthroughs in the ongoing operation:

  • Casualties: 133 Afghan Taliban operatives killed; over 200 wounded.
  • Territorial Gains: Pakistan has reportedly captured 9 Afghan border posts and neutralized 27 others.

  • Infrastructure: Major ammunition depots in Nangarhar and Kandahar have been obliterated, and two Brigade Headquarters in Kabul were targeted overnight.

The “India Proxy” Narrative

A recurring theme in the statements from National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and other officials is the allegation that the Afghan Taliban is acting at the behest of India to destabilize the region. This narrative has consolidated public and political opinion, framing the conflict not just as a border skirmish, but as a defense against a broader regional conspiracy
