In a landmark development for Pakistan’s maritime sector, global energy trader Vitol and leading refiner Cnergyico have successfully completed the country’s largest single delivery of very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), compliant with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
The record-breaking supply was delivered to a Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) vessel at Port Qasim using the Singapore-flagged bunker barge Marine Ista, capable of carrying 6,800 metric tonnes.

Marking multiple firsts, this was the inaugural direct loading from Karachi Port Trust’s Oil Pier — bypassing traditional truck deliveries — and utilized fuel from Cnergyico’s first large-scale IMO-compliant batch, produced after importing U.S. crude earlier this year.
