Further Provocation by Afghanistan Will Be Met with an ‘Unwavering and Befitting Response’, FO Warns

ISLAMABAD, October 13, 2025 – The Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan on Sunday issued a stern warning to Afghanistan, declaring that any further acts of aggression from Kabul would be met with an “unwavering and befitting response.” This comes after intense border clashes between the two countries over the weekend.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 23 Pakistani troops were martyred, while more than 200 Taliban and affiliated terrorists were killed after Pakistan responded to unprovoked aggression along the Pak-Afghan border.

In an official statement, the FO reiterated Pakistan’s preference for diplomacy and peaceful coexistence but made it clear that national security would not be compromised.

“The Government of Pakistan continues to closely monitor the situation and will take all possible measures to safeguard its territory and the lives of its people,” the statement read.

The FO condemned the aggression by Afghan Taliban, Fitna al-Khawarij (a term for TTP), and Fitna al-Hindustan (a term for Baloch separatist outfits), warning that such acts would damage already fragile neighbourly ties.

The destroyed infrastructure, according to the FO, was being used to “plan and facilitate acts of terror” against Pakistan. Pakistan’s retaliatory action reportedly inflicted heavy losses in men, materials, and logistical assets of the hostile elements.

The FO also rebuked Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi’s claims made in India denying the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

“Such baseless assertions cannot absolve the Taliban regime of its responsibilities towards regional peace and stability,” the FO said, citing UN Monitoring Team reports as evidence of terrorist safe havens on Afghan soil.

Pakistan also reminded Kabul of its hospitality to over 4 million Afghan refugees and emphasized that the country reserves the right to regulate the presence of Afghan nationals under international norms.
