Lahore, January 27, 2026 — The Punjab government has approved a Rs47 billion Ramazan Nigehban Package to provide direct financial relief and essential support to millions of deserving families during the holy month of Ramazan. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting here to finalize preparations and relief measures, ensuring no family faces hardship alone in the coming weeks.

Key Highlights
- 4.2 million deserving families will each receive Rs10,000 in cash assistance during Ramazan.
- More than 2 million beneficiaries will be issued Nigehban Cards for cash withdrawals and purchases of essential commodities.
- Ration card holders will get Rs10,000 during Ramazan — up from the current Rs3,000 monthly stipend.
- 136 card activation centres will open across the province, supported by a dedicated Ramazan Nigehban Dashboard for monitoring and verification.
- Eight Nigehban Dastarkhwan – Maryam Kay Mehman centres per tehsil will serve free Iftar to up to 2,000 fasting people daily.
- 65 Sahulat Bazaars will operate in 30 districts, with additional bazaars planned province-wide and a monitoring room equipped with 1,250 cameras to ensure fair pricing and hygiene.
Relief Measures for Easy Access and Fair Pricing
The Chief Minister directed officials to make Nigehban Card payments as simple and user-friendly as possible — including options for free home delivery services. Flour mills, poultry traders, grocery associations, and ghee mills have been asked to set up stalls at Sasta Ramazan and Sahulat Bazaars to help keep prices affordable.
In a related development, the meeting approved the launch of free Iftar centres in every tehsil, with personal oversight by commissioners, deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners. The Punjab Food Authority will handle quality checks to ensure safe, hygienic meals for those breaking their fast.
Bazaars and Monitoring Strengthened
To expand access to subsidized goods, 65 Sahulat Bazaars will function in 30 districts, while permanent, mobile, and temporary bazaars will cover the rest of Punjab. A provincial monitoring room fitted with 1,250 cameras will keep watch over pricing, cleanliness, security, and overall arrangements. The Chief Minister also ordered immediate identification of land for Sahulat Bazaars in 60 tehsils and stressed further efforts to bring down prices during Ramazan.
