The summit takes place amid a diplomatic breakthrough that promises relief for Palestinians, the Gaza Peace Pact, following two years of Israeli military onslaught, which has claimed over 67,000 lives. The peace process, spearheaded by US President Donald Trump and supported by eight Muslim countries, has led to a 20-point truce plan between Hamas and Israel, aiming to end the genocide in Gaza.

The FO noted that the summit stems from diplomatic engagements that began on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York. On September 23, PM Shehbaz and leaders from Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia, and Turkiye met President Trump to explore peace avenues for Gaza.
“Pakistan’s participation reflects its historic, consistent, and unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s just cause and their right to self-determination,” the FO emphasized.
The FO expressed hope that the summit would lead to:
-
Full Israeli withdrawal,
-
Protection of Palestinian civilians,
-
End to displacement,
-
Release of prisoners,
-
Humanitarian aid, and
-
Reconstruction of Gaza.
It reiterated Pakistan’s support for a viable, independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders and relevant UN resolutions.
