RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces eliminated eleven militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)—referred to by the state as Fitna al Khawarij—in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 8, 2026, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on January 10.
The first operation took place in North Waziristan district, where troops acted on credible intelligence about the presence of militants. An intense exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of six militants. In the second joint IBO, carried out by police and security forces in Kurram district, another five militants were effectively eliminated.

Sanitisation of the areas is in progress to ensure no further threats remain, the ISPR added, reaffirming that the national campaign against terrorism—backed by foreign sponsorship—will proceed relentlessly until the menace is eradicated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for their professional conduct and reiterated the government’s unwavering resolve. “We will continue the war against terrorism until it is completely eliminated,” he said, vowing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the troops and police in this fight.
President Asif Ali Zardari echoed the sentiment, describing the role of security forces and law enforcement in safeguarding lives and property as “commendable.”These successful operations come amid a broader counterterrorism drive. Earlier this week, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that law enforcement agencies conducted over 75,000 IBOs across the country in 2025 alone.
The nation remains grateful for the sacrifices of its brave soldiers and police personnel, who continue to confront these challenges with unwavering determination. As the fight against terrorism presses on, such operations serve as a firm reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to peace and security for every citizen.
