ISLAMABAD — October 15, 2025: Defence lawyers representing former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are set to wrap up their final arguments before the Special Court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the Toshakhana jewellery case. The hearing resumed at Adiala jail, with both accused present alongside their legal team.

Key Highlights

  • Prosecution has completed its arguments, presenting 20 witnesses
  • Defence counsel Barrister Salman Safdar is expected to conclude arguments today
  • Prosecution may seek time for rebuttal before the court reserves or announces verdict
  • Separate arrest warrant issued for Aleema Khan in protest case

Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand presided over Tuesday’s session, where Special Prosecutor Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Barrister Umair Majeed closed the prosecution’s side. The case revolves around the alleged unlawful retention of a Bulgari jewellery set — valued at approximately Rs80 million — reportedly gifted by the Saudi royal family. According to the prosecution, the set was retained after paying only Rs 2.9 million.

Imran Khan has denied all allegations, terming the case “fabricated and politically engineered.” He argued the jewellery was lawfully retained under the Toshakhana Policy 2018, challenging both the jurisdiction of NAB and FIA and the credibility of key witnesses. Bushra Bibi also pleaded not guilty, rejecting claims of undervaluation and asserting adherence to official rules.

Meanwhile, the Special Anti-Terrorism Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khanum, over her non-appearance in a separate protest case.
