Lahore — Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 26 suspected terrorists linked to various proscribed organisations during 286 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across the province over the past month, authorities announced on February 14, 2026.

The operations targeted potential terrorism threats in districts including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Narowal, Pakpattan, and Sargodha.

  • 26 suspected terrorists arrested in 286 IBOs.
  • One Al-Qaeda affiliate arrested in Lahore.
  • Four Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP-linked) members held in Sargodha.

  • Suspects planned attacks on key buildings to create fear.
  • 25 terrorism cases registered; investigations underway.

A CTD spokesperson said the suspects — including one alleged Al-Qaeda member arrested in Lahore and four Fitna al-Khawarij operatives in Sargodha — had links to tribal areas and were planning attacks on important installations to spread terror among the public.

Recoveries included 4.9 kilograms of explosives, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 19 detonators, 34 feet of safety fuse wire, pamphlets and magazines of banned organisations, Prima cards, mobile phones, and cash.

The department registered 25 cases against the arrested suspects under anti-terrorism laws and launched investigations. In parallel, CTD conducted 4,662 combing operations in coordination with local police and security agencies, checking 160,009 individuals, arresting 538 suspects, registering 516 FIRs, and making 389 recoveries.

The crackdown reflects Punjab’s intensified efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, prevent attacks, and safeguard public safety amid ongoing threats from banned outfits and hybrid warfare elements.

This operation follows last month’s arrests of 49 suspected terrorists and the killing of six “highly dangerous” militants near Chapri Dam, underscoring the province’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism and commitment to protecting citizens and national stability. Further investigations are ongoing, with authorities vowing to pursue all leads to eliminate residual threats.
