Pakistan seeks Urgent UNSC Meeting after Israeli Strikes in Doha

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 10 — Pakistan has asked the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to hold an emergency meeting after Israeli airstrikes hit Doha, the capital of Qatar, targeting senior Hamas figures, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025.

The strikes, carried out a day earlier, marked Israel’s first military attack inside the Gulf state. For years, Hamas has operated its political office in Qatar, which, along with Egypt, has played a central role in ceasefire negotiations during the nearly two-year-long war in Gaza. Doha strongly condemned the strikes, calling them a “cowardly act” and a clear breach of international law.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Pakistan, alongside Somalia and Algeria, had jointly requested the UNSC session to discuss what he described as “unprovoked illegal Israeli aggression” against Qatar.

“Pakistan stands in full solidarity with the government and the brotherly people of Qatar,” Dar wrote.
