Emergency intervention and recovery
Prison authorities initiated the transfer to a hospital after ophthalmologists confirmed a serious retinal issue that could lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. According to the jail superintendent, Bushra Bibi provided formal consent for the operation. While the surgery was successful, the PTI leadership remains “deeply concerned” about her post-operative care within a prison environment.

PTI leadership demands visitation rights
Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan took to social media to reiterate that meeting family members is a “basic right” that has been largely curtailed. He called for immediate access for her family to monitor her recovery, while also drawing parallels to Imran Khan’s own recurring eye ailments. Khan’s sister, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, confirmed the family had reached Islamabad to seek a meeting, emphasizing the “crucial” nature of the medical intervention.
