QUETTA — A tense two-day standoff between security forces and militants who stormed the FC Headquarters in Nokundi, Chagai district, ended on Tuesday after all six assailants were killed during a clearance operation, officials confirmed.
The attack began late Sunday night when a female suicide bomber detonated herself at the main gate of the FC fort, enabling the remaining militants to force their way into the compound. Security personnel immediately engaged the attackers, killing three of them on the spot. However, three others managed to slip deeper into the facility, where they reportedly took hostages and triggered a prolonged confrontation.
Local residents said gunfire echoed through the area for much of Monday and subsided early Tuesday morning. Officials later confirmed that the final phase of the operation was carried out late Monday night, during which the remaining militants were eliminated.
“All six militants who attacked the FC fort have been killed by the security forces in the clearance operation,” officials stated, adding that the situation had been fully stabilised.
The tactics used in the assault — including a suicide blast followed by an attempted hostage situation — point to a coordinated effort aimed at inflicting maximum damage on a key security installation. However, because of swift military response, the attackers were unable to sustain control or inflict broader structural harm.

The incident has once again raised concerns about militant activity and security challenges in Balochistan’s border regions, where personnel of the Frontier Corps remain frequently targeted. Analysts note that attacks involving suicide bombers and fortified positions reflect evolving insurgent tactics, necessitating heightened surveillance and defensive measures.
Authorities are expected to release additional information once the site is fully secured and investigations into the attackers’ identities, affiliations and logistical support networks progress.
