Operation Shaban Gains Momentum
Jointly executed by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and local police, the operation has targeted entrenched militant positions in Quetta district’s rugged Shaban area.
- The Objective: The operation was launched immediately after a deadly ambush at the Mangi dam pumping station, where terrorists martyred 27 police personnel—abducting 18 from the post before executing them in the Zarghoon Gar mountains.
- The Tally: Of the 88 terrorists killed since early July, 52 have been eliminated specifically within the scope of Operation Shaban, while the remainder were neutralized in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the province.
“It is a mutual and singular decision of the civil and military leadership that we must end terrorism collectively.” — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at the Provincial Apex Committee meeting in Quetta alongside Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir.
State Response and Support Measures
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highly commended the bravery of the joint forces, stating that the state will hunt down the perpetrators of violence until the region is entirely cleared.
Simultaneously, the Balochistan provincial government moved to support those affected by the initial surge of violence.
| Metric | Details / Actions Taken |

Security sources have confirmed that ground operations in the Zarghoon Gar range and surrounding hideouts will continue uninterrupted until all remaining threats are fully neutralized.
