BAHAWALPUR: Forty former assembly ticket-holders of the banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) from the Bahawalpur division on Wednesday announced their dissociation from the proscribed organisation, asserting that they had no connection with any anti-government protest or agitation.

Addressing a press conference at the Bahawalpur Press Club, the former ticket-holders said they were “patriotic Pakistanis” who believed in the stability and strength of the country. They emphasised that they were no longer affiliated with the TLP or any of its political activities.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has placed the names of 23 TLP activists, leaders, and workers from Vehari district on the Fourth Schedule. According to the Counter Terrorism Department’s (CTD) Vehari office, the individuals include former TLP ticket-holders — eight from Vehari, and seven each from Mailsi and Burewala.

Authorities have circulated their names to relevant government departments and law enforcement agencies. Individuals listed under the Fourth Schedule are now barred from leaving their respective areas without prior permission from local police and LEAs.
