Peshawar, November 27, 2025 – Three brave police officials embraced martyrdom late Wednesday night when terrorists launched a brazen terrorist attack on Qazi Talab checkpost in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, the provincial Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) confirmed.
Terrorists Foiled After Two-Hour Gunbattle
According to the CTD statement, terrorists exploited darkness and rocky terrain to launch a “cowardly” assault. Hangu DPO Khan Zeb Mohmand swiftly led the counter-operation, surrounding the area.
For nearly two hours, police stood “like a wall of lead”, successfully repulsing the attackers. Head Constable Wahid Shah, Head Constable Hikmat Khan, and Constable Abdul Samad were martyred in the intense exchange of fire.
One terrorist was killed; his body was recovered during the subsequent search operation. Remaining militants fled, reportedly carrying their dead and injured.

Leadership Vows Stronger Resolve Against Terrorism
KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack, declaring, “Terrorists have no religion. Such cowardly acts cannot demoralise us.” He directed the immediate deployment of additional forces and sought a detailed report from the IG Police.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid glowing tribute to the fallen officers, stating their sacrifices “will not go in vain” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the ongoing fight against terrorism.

Hangu has witnessed multiple attacks recently, underscoring the persistent threat in parts of KP since the banned TTP ended its ceasefire in 2022.
Authorities say security forces remain on high alert and determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from Pakistani soil.
