SWAT, Oct 16, 2025 — At least 15 members of the same family were killed and eight others injured when a truck overturned on the Swat Motorway early Thursday morning, rescue officials said.

Tragic Accident Near Tunnel No. 3
According to Malakand Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shafiqa Gul, the family from the Gabral area of Bahrain tehsil was travelling to Punjab when the truck overturned near tunnel No. 3. Emergency teams and Motorway Police responded quickly, carrying out relief operations at the site.
The injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital, Batkhela, where doctors confirmed 15 fatalities. Four critically wounded individuals were referred to Swat for specialised treatment.

Accidents are common on highways and motorways across Pakistan, often due to reckless driving, overspeeding, poor vehicle maintenance, and weak enforcement of traffic laws. Last month alone, multiple fatal crashes were reported in Dera Ismail Khan, Mansehr,a and Haripur, highlighting persistent road safety gaps.
