ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed a thorough technical audit of billing systems across all power distribution companies (Discos), stressing that comprehensive reforms in the power sector remain a top priority for the federal government.

While chairing a review meeting on Power Division performance in Islamabad on Thursday, the Prime Minister acknowledged noticeable improvements in some distribution companies but insisted that deeper structural changes are still needed to reduce losses and ensure transparent billing.

Performance Targets and Incentive Structure

To boost efficiency, the Prime Minister instructed the Power Division to set clear, time-bound Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all Discos. He also announced that the best-performing distribution company will receive national recognition and an official award to encourage healthy competition.
