Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on August 4, 2025, to discuss key developments in Pakistan-U.S. relations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed the progress made since their meeting in Washington, D.C., on July 25, and discussed a range of bilateral, regional, and international issues. The conversation focused on economic cooperation, trade, and tariff-related matters, with both sides expressing optimism about finalizing a mutually beneficial trade deal.
The call also comes at a time of improving diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Washington, particularly after the U.S.-facilitated ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May 2025. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close contact and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The conversation signals continued momentum in Pakistan-U.S. relations, especially in the domains of economic diplomacy, regional stability, and strategic dialogue.
