PESHAWAR / HAZARA — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) observed Kashmir Solidarity Day on Thursday, February 5, 2026, with widespread rallies, seminars, and symbolic human chains. The day was marked by a unified call from religious leaders, political parties, and government officials for the United Nations to implement its resolutions and conduct a plebiscite in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
Peshawar: Political and Civil Activism
The provincial capital saw a surge of activity as various groups took to the streets:
- Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) March: A major rally was led by JI provincial emir Abdul Wasi and district chief Bahrullah Khan. The marchers moved from Hashtnagri Chowk to Ashraf Road, chanting slogans against Indian atrocities and the “silence” of the international community.
- Tourism & Youth Engagement: The KP Culture and Tourism Authority organized a walk and a drama performance at Nishtar Hall, where children from Zamung Kor depicted the struggle of the Kashmiri people.
- Chief Khateeb’s Message: Maulana Mohammad Tayyab Qureshi addressed the public, criticizing the UN for being a “silent spectator” while the Modi government “intensifies its repression” in the valley.
- Bikers’ Rally: A specialized rally organized by the City Traffic Police and tourism department traveled from Chamkani to Peshawar Saddar to raise awareness.

Hazara Division: The “Human Chain” at Bararkot
The most symbolic event took place at the border between KP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK):
- Bararkot Human Chain: Hundreds of people gathered at the Bararkot boundary, forming a massive human chain to link hands with their Kashmiri brothers.
- Government Representation: KP Minister for Education Arshad Ayub Khan attended the central ceremony at Kohala Bridge, reaffirming that the KP government would continue to act as a diplomatic voice for Kashmiris at every forum.
- District Participation: Similar walks and flag-hoisting ceremonies were led by Deputy Commissioners in Mansehra, Upper Kohistan (Dasu), and Abbottabad.
