Mega-Budget Drama on Ghulam Shah Kalhoro Announced

The Pakistani television industry is set to embark on one of its most ambitious historical productions yet. Green TV has confirmed the major production details for the upcoming drama serial, “Ghulam Bashah Sundri,” a cinematic project dedicated to exploring the life of the powerful 18th-century ruler, Ghulam Shah Kalhoro.

The production schedule and casting details were officially confirmed on Friday, November 28, 2025.

A Grand Tribute to Sindh’s Legacy

The mega-project focuses on Ghulam Shah Kalhoro, a key figure in the Kalhora Dynasty (1701–1783) who is credited with bringing stability and political cohesion to Sindh during a period of immense regional flux and the decline of the Mughal Empire. Kalhoro is recognized for defeating the Marathas, expanding the territory from Derajat to Kutch, and notably ordering the construction of the monumental Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, a cornerstone of the region’s spiritual and architectural heritage. His decision to found the city of Hyderabad also secures his place as a pivotal figure in modern Sindhi history.

The production is helmed by director Amin Iqbal and penned by veteran writer Zanjabeel Asim Shah. It stars prominent actors Imran Ashraf and Zaviyar Nauman Ijaz, who are tasked with bringing depth and gravitas to the historical roles. The drama is being lauded as a potential “historical masterpiece” due to its commitment to high-budget cinematic quality, authentic costume design, and the magnificent visuals required to meticulously recreate 18th-century court life and warfare.
