Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently highlighted the severe financial pressure placed on the economy by the international fuel crisis. Despite global prices skyrocketing, the government has focused on maintaining a steady supply to protect the industrial and agricultural sectors. The Prime Minister noted that while the cost of imports has more than doubled, the current stock levels remain satisfactory due to strict oversight and better management.

To cope with the high costs, the government previously implemented austerity measures, including a reduced four-day work week for most public offices. These steps were taken to stretch the country’s oil reserves while ensuring that essential services like hospitals and ambulances continue to operate without interruption. The state remains committed to monitoring the global market closely and adjusting its strategy to safeguard national energy security.
