Every year on August 4th, Pakistan observes Police Martyrs’ Day to pay tribute to the brave police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The day marks the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Safwat Ghayur, a senior police officer martyred in a suicide attack in Peshawar on this day in 2010.
In 2025, ceremonies were held nationwide to honor the sacrifices of the police force in the country’s fight against terrorism and crime.
- Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi led tributes to fallen heroes, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting the families of martyrs.
- NH&MP Headquarters: A special ceremony was held where wreaths were laid at the Martyrs’ Memorial. Officers remembered not only Motorway Police personnel but also martyrs from other law enforcement bodies.
- Provincial Observances: Events in districts like Lower Dir and Khyber saw senior officers and community leaders distributing gifts and paying tribute to local police heroes.
Police Martyrs’ Day serves as a solemn reminder of the courage and dedication of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies in upholding peace and protecting the nation.
