The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA), in partnership with the Attock Municipal Committee, has launched its first major anti-encroachment operation in the city.
Key Operation Zone:
Action was taken near Khan Chowk, specifically around the Barsati Nala area. Heavy machinery was used to demolish illegal permanent structures built on public land.
Prior Warnings Issued:
Shopkeepers and residents had been served official notices ahead of the operation. Many complied by removing the encroachments voluntarily.
Strict Measures for Non-Compliance:
Those who ignored the warnings faced immediate action. PERA’s field force and Attock’s Encroachment Team led the operation on-site.
Officials Take the Lead:
Chief Officer Sardar Aftab and PERA authorities supervised the drive. This effort follows instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to eliminate encroachments, especially near natural water drains.
Zero-Tolerance Policy:
Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif has ordered strict action against both temporary and permanent encroachments. Violators will face legal consequences.
Public Reaction:
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, praising the officials for taking firm and fair steps to reclaim public land and ensure safety during unpredictable weather.
