ISLAMABAD, Sept 13 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday performed the groundbreaking of the long-awaited T-Chowk Flyover at Rawat, a project aimed at easing traffic congestion at the busy southern gateway of Islamabad.

Project at a Glance
- Cost: Rs 1.495 billion
- Length: 1.07 km flyover with dual carriageway (11.3m wide)
- Daily Users: Over 100,000 vehicles at T-Chowk junction
- Timeline: 150 days (as per Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi)
- Designer: NESPAK, with landscaping and street lighting included
PM’s Remarks
Calling the project a “milestone” for residents of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Punjab, and AJK, PM Sharif stressed timely completion and quality standards.
“No compromise will be made on transparency or efficiency,” he said, adding that infrastructure boosts both public convenience and economic activity.

Officials Present
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and other senior officials attended the ceremony. Naqvi assured that engineering standards and deadlines would be strictly followed.
Once completed, the flyover is expected to benefit 41,500 vehicles daily, cutting travel time, saving fuel, and reducing emissions.
