LAHORE – October 11, 2025– A judicial magistrate in Lahore has sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Falak Javed to jail on a 14-day judicial remand in two separate cases involving alleged misuse of social media platforms and incitement against state institutions and a provincial female minister.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced Falak Javed before Magistrate Naeem Wattoo after the conclusion of her physical remand. Following a review of the case records, the magistrate ordered her to be sent to jail for further judicial proceedings.

According to Dawn, the cases involve alleged online activities that authorities claim violated national cyber laws, targeting both government institutions and individual public figures.

Separately, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted permission to police to question Falak Javed in connection with the May 2023 vandalism outside Zaman Park, linked to the violent protests following the arrest of PTI leadership. The case, registered at Race Course Police Station, is part of ongoing investigations into the May 9 incidents.

The court directed that the interrogation must be conducted within prison premises, and instructed the investigating officer to complete the inquiry without delay.

Falak was arrested from Islamabad by the NCCIA, days after her sister, Sanam Javed, was taken into custody from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sanam is currently serving a five-year sentence at Kot Lakhpat Jail for her role in the Shadman police station attack.

Authorities say both cases are part of a broader crackdown on individuals accused of orchestrating or supporting the May 9 unrest.
