Section 144 Imposed in Quetta to Maintain Law and Order

Quetta, December 10, 2025 – The Balochistan Home Department on Wednesday imposed Section 144 across Quetta district with immediate effect, banning a wide range of activities to ensure public safety and maintain law and order in the provincial capital.

The restrictions will remain in force until further orders, according to an official notification issued today.

  • Complete ban on display and carrying of firearms
  • Pillion riding on motorcycles prohibited
  • Use of tinted glasses on vehicles and movement of unregistered motorcycles not allowed
  • Gatherings of five or more persons, processions, rallies, and demonstrations banned
  • Wearing of masks, mufflers or any face-covering item in public (especially by women and children) prohibited
  • Transportation of acid and explosive materials within Quetta district forbidden
  • Police, Levies and Frontier Corps authorised for strict enforcement
  • Violators to face action under Section 188 PPC and other applicable laws
  • The Home Department has directed the Quetta Deputy Commissioner to submit daily compliance reports.

Authorities stated the measures are preventive in nature and aimed at protecting citizens amid the prevailing security environment. Similar restrictions under Section 144 have been imposed periodically in Quetta in recent years to avert potential threats to peace.

Citizens have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies for the smooth implementation of the orders.
