PTC and CDA Launch “Seed Ball Campaign” for Greener Margalla Hills

• The initiative encourages public participation in afforestation efforts across the Margalla Hills, especially during the ongoing monsoon season.
• Seed balls (or “Earth Balls”) are eco-friendly capsules made from clay, soil, and seeds—designed to protect seeds from animals and improve germination rates.
• Citizens were invited to take and throw seed balls in suitable areas, promoting natural growth without digging or extensive labor.
• This method is also used in aerial reforestation and has a higher success rate than traditional planting techniques.
• The campaign supports CDA’s broader mission to make Islamabad cleaner and greener while combating climate change.
• Similar drives have been held in past years, but this one focuses on expanding public ownership of the Margalla Hills’ ecology.
