1. Official Fitrana, Fidya, and Kaffara Rates (Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman)
Prominent religious scholar Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman has announced the minimum rates for Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (Fitrana) and Fidya based on current market prices for 2026.
Fitrana and Fidya (Per Person)
| Commodity | Weight | Amount (PKR) |
| Wheat (Minimum) | 2 kg | Rs. 300 |
| Barley | 4 kg | Rs. 1,160 |
| Dates | 4 kg | Rs. 2,800 |
| Raisins | 4 kg | Rs. 7,200 |
Kaffarah for Broken Fasts
If a fast is deliberately broken without a valid Shariah reason, the individual must fast for 60 consecutive days. If physically unable, they must feed 60 deserving people two meals:
- Wheat-based compensation: Rs. 18,000
- Barley-based compensation: Rs. 69,600
- Dates-based compensation: Rs. 168,000
- Raisins-based compensation: Rs. 432,000
Note on Fidya: Mufti Muneeb clarified that Fidya is only for the elderly or those with permanent, incurable illnesses. Travelers and those with temporary illnesses must make up their fasts later (Qaza).
2. PM Ramadan Relief Package 2026 (9999 Digital System)
To combat soaring inflation, the federal government has approved a Rs. 25 billion relief package. The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has already authorized the immediate release of Rs. 19 billion.
The “9999” Digital System
In a shift away from the chaotic queues of previous years, the 2026 package is entirely digital and CNIC-based:
- No Paperwork: Eligibility is verified through the 9999 SMS service.
- Direct Assistance: Subsidies on essential items (flour, sugar, ghee, pulses) are linked to your CNIC and can be redeemed at Utility Stores.
- Targeted Support: The system ensures that only low-income families (typically those registered with BISP) receive the subsidy.
3. Market Outlook: The “Ramadan Inflation” Challenge
Despite the government relief, market analysts warn that food prices are expected to remain volatile.
- Vegetables & Fruits: Onions and tomatoes are currently trending 15-20% higher than last year.
- Poultry: Chicken prices are expected to hover around Rs. 650-750/kg during the first Ashra.
