PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails PML-N’s ‘Brilliant Success’ in By-Elections

Islamabad, November 24, 2025 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday extended heartfelt congratulations to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates for their resounding victory in Sunday’s by-elections, describing the results as a “brilliant success” that reflects strong public trust in the party’s leadership and development agenda.
In a major boost for the ruling party, provisional results show PML-N sweeping all six National Assembly seats and six out of seven Punjab Assembly seats that were contested. The lone provincial seat outside PML-N’s tally was won by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in one of the three constituencies where it fielded candidates.
The by-polls, held amid low voter turnout and an election boycott by the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in all but two constituencies, were largely triggered after several PTI lawmakers were disqualified following convictions related to the May 9, 2023, violence cases.

In separate statements issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz personally congratulated victorious candidates in:

National Assembly constituencies:

  • NA-18 (Haripur)
  • NA-96 and NA-104 (Faisalabad)
  • NA-185 (Dera Ghazi Khan)
  • NA-129 (Lahore)
  • NA-143 (Sahiwal)

Punjab Assembly constituencies:

  • PP-73 (Sargodha)
  • PP-87 (Mianwali)
  • PP-98, PP-115, PP-116 (Faisalabad)
  • PP-203 (Sahiwal)

“The brilliant success of PML-N candidates is a result of the visionary leadership of Quaid Nawaz Sharif and the tireless efforts of party workers,” the premier stated, adding that the results are a clear endorsement of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s relentless work for provincial progress and public welfare.

He further emphasized that the electorate has reaffirmed confidence in the government’s performance and PML-N’s agenda of development, stability, and people-first policies.
Despite allegations of rigging from some quarters and noticeably low turnout, the PML-N’s dominant performance has strengthened its position both in the National Assembly and the Punjab legislature, consolidating the party’s grip on power in its traditional stronghold.
Political analysts see the outcome as a significant morale booster for the Sharif-led government ahead of future electoral challenges.
